What are the benefits of using humidification with your sleep apnea treatment therapy? Find the answers to your most frequently asked questions about humidifiers below.
Q. What are the benefits of using a humidifier?
A. Using a humidifier with your therapy can reduce dryness and congestion and improve comfort because the airflow generated by CPAP therapy is often greater than what your body is accustomed to humidifying on its own.
However, with proper humidification, you can reduce common symptoms like nasal congestion and dry throat. ResMed heated humidifiers add moisture and warmth to the air delivered by therapy devices, reducing the symptoms of dryness and congestion and improving comfort.
Q. What are the benefits of using a heated air humidifier with different mask types?
A. All masks may be used with humidification. Sometimes condensation (often known as “rainout”) within the tubing can occur; however, adjustment of the humidifier heating settings can be effective in removing this.
Q. Is humidification helpful for Upper Airway Resistance Syndrome (UARS)?
A. If you’re already on treatment and experiencing nasal dryness, then humidification may help decrease those symptoms. Humidification adds moisture to the air that you breathe and may help your nasal passages cope with the increased flow of air.
