For additional therapy assistance.
Step 1 - Familiarize yourself with the AirTouch N20 fitting template, a downloadable resource to help you find the right cushion size for your patient. There are three ResMed UltraSoft memory foam cushion sizes available for this nasal mask.
Step 2 - We recommend using the AirTouch N20 fitting template as an assessment tool to determine the patient’s correct memory foam cushion size for this nasal mask. Compare the width and length of the patient’s nose to each of the available template sizes.
Step 3 - Once you’ve chosen the appropriate memory foam cushion, double-check with the patient to make sure it fits well and feels comfortable.
Step 1 - If the quick-release mask elbow and short tube are connected to the AirTouch N20 nasal mask, disconnect them by squeezing the side buttons on the elbow, then pulling it out of the frame.
Step 2 - Make sure that the lower headgear straps aren’t connected to the frame. To disconnect them, twist and pull the magnetic clips away from the frame.
Step 3 - Place the memory foam cushion under the patient’s nose, then pull the headgear over their head.
Step 4 - Bring each of the magnetic clips on the lower headgear straps under the patient’s ears, then attach them to their corresponding clips on the frame.
Step 5 - Adjust the upper headgear straps until the mask fits securely and comfortably on the patient’s face. This could involve unfastening or loosening the straps, then re-fastening and/or tightening them as needed.
Step 6 - Adjust the lower headgear straps until the mask fits securely and comfortably on the patient’s face. This could involve unfastening or loosening the straps, then re-fastening and/or tightening them as needed.
Step 7 - Connect the elbow and the short tube to the air tube on the CPAP device.
Step 8 - Then, reattach the elbow and short tube with the air tube to the frame. Ask your patients to report any mask discomfort.
Step 1 - If air escapes from the nasal mask in areas other than the vent, try to stop it.
Step 2 - Put the UltraSoft memory foam cushion in its appropriate position by pulling it away from the patient’s face, and then let it settle back into position.
Step 3 - Run your finger over the top half of the memory foam cushion to check for leaks.
Step 4 - If you discover a leak coming from the top of the cushion, adjust the upper headgear straps as needed to fix the leak.
Step 5 - Run your finger under the bottom half of the memory foam cushion to check for leaks.
Step 6 - If you discover a leak coming from the bottom of the cushion, adjust the lower headgear straps as needed to fix the leak.
Note: A majority of nasal mask users who tried AirTouch N20 in a recent study got an excellent seal and no mask leak while wearing it.1* And for those few study participants who experienced any mask leaks with AirTouch N20, most of them found their issues were easily resolved with a quick headgear adjustment or mask repositioning.1
Step 1 - Encourage patients to become familiar with the AirTouch N20 nasal mask, its components and user guide.
Step 2 - Follow the user guide’s mask disassembly instructions.
Step 3 - Inspect the memory foam cushion for signs of wear, tear and damage.
Step 4 - Inspect the frame for signs of wear, tear and damage.
Step 5 - Inspect the elbow and short tube for signs of wear, tear and damage.
Step 6 - Inspect the headgear for signs of wear, tear and damage. Look closely at the straps to see if they are worn or stretched out.
Step 7 - Post-inspection, refer to the user guide to reassemble the mask.
Note: If any damage and/or deterioration is determined, those individual mask components should be discarded and replaced. Patients should replace mask components regularly to help prevent mask deterioration from occurring and optimize mask performance. ResMed recommends the following replacement schedule:
The need for replacement is based on the working condition of each component. Replacement cycles may vary depending on each patient’s insurance coverage.
Step 1 - Ensure the AirTouch N20 nasal mask is disconnected from the CPAP device.
Step 2 - Unfasten the tabs on the upper headgear straps, then unthread the upper headgear straps from the frame. Once unthreaded, gently pull them away from the frame.
Step 3 - Squeeze the side buttons on the quick-release elbow and pull up to remove the headgear from the frame.
Step 4 - Hold the memory foam cushion firmly with one hand. With the other hand, place the thumb under the notch of the frame and unclip it. Gently pull the frame away from the memory foam cushion.
Step 1 - Follow the AirTouch N20 disassembly instructions to disconnect the memory foam cushion, quick-release elbow and short tube.
Step 2 - Patients may opt to wipe down the memory foam cushion with a dry cloth or non-alcoholic wipe. Do not rinse or submerge it in liquid.
Note: The memory foam cushion doesn’t require any cleaning, as long as it’s replaced regularly.
Step 3 - Prepare a bowl filled with warm (but not hot) water and a mild liquid detergent. Soak the elbow and short tube in the soapy water for a few minutes.
Step 4 - Hand wash the elbow (including the vent holes) and short tube (inside and out) with a soft bristle brush.
Step 5 - Rinse the elbow and short tube under running tap water.
Step 6 - Leave the cushion, elbow and short tube to air-dry away from direct sunlight.
Note: Encourage patients to clean the elbow and short tube daily to help them get the most out of therapy.

Step 2 - Insert the memory foam cushion into the frame and then push them together to connect.
Step 3 - Position the headgear so the ResMed logo is upright and facing towards you.
Step 4 - Thread each of the upper headgear straps through the magnetic clips on the frame, and fasten the tabs to secure.
Step 5 - Connect the elbow and short tube to the frame. Assure it clicks into place.
