ResMed named world’s largest provider of connected healthcare solutions for remote patient monitoring

Berg Insight, a global independent market research firm, released their annual mHealth report and naming ResMed as the world’s largest provider of connected healthcare solutions for remote patient monitoring. According to Berg Insight’s report:

“The sleep therapy segment accounted for the majority of the market growth in 2015. ResMed was especially successful with its new Air Solutions family of sleep therapy devices that includes a cellular M2M module as standard and is supported by a comprehensive range of health informatics software that enable healthcare organizations to provide better care more efficiently. ResMed surpassed Medtronic as the world’s largest provider of connected healthcare solutions for remote patient monitoring in 2015.”

4.9 million patients worldwide are remotely monitored. This number grew by 51 percent in 2015, and is expected to reach 36.1 million by 2020. Eighty-one percent of these patients are monitored as part of their therapy either in cardiac rhythm management devices or for sleep therapy.

The majority of the 2015 market growth in Berg’s report is due to the sleep therapy segment. ResMed’s Air Solutions portfolio, including AirSenseTM, AirCurveTM, LumisTM, AirViewTM and myAirTM, allowed ResMed to become the first in the industry to deliver a seamlessly interconnected solution with built in mobile technology. With these developments, patients and their healthcare providers can monitor treatment and respond quickly.
