The Corporate Directors Forum has named Richard Sulpizio, Director, ResMed Inc., Director of the Year for Corporate Governance. Sulpizio will be honored at Corporate Directors Forum’s 24th annual Director of the Year awards. He is among six San Diego leaders who are being recognized for their outstanding performance in the boardroom.
Sulpizio currently serves on two public company boards, ResMed, Inc., a medical device company and CA, Inc., a software company.

Sulpizio retired from Qualcomm, Inc. in July 2001 as President and Chief Operating Officer. He first joined Qualcomm in 1991 as VP of Information Services. In 1994, he was appointed president of Qualcomm Wireless Business Solutions. Four years later, he became Qualcomm’s president and COO. After his retirement in 2001, he returned to Qualcomm to serve in several successive high-level executive positions including President of Qualcomm China, President of Qualcomm Europe, President and Chief Executive Officer of MediaFLO, USA, Inc., a Qualcomm subsidiary involved in bringing multimedia services to the wireless industry and from 2009 to 2013, he was President and CEO of Qualcomm Enterprise Services, (QES), responsible for mobile communications and services to the transportation industry, until it was sold to a private equity firm. Sulpizio served as a director of Qualcomm from 2000 until 2007.
Sulpizio currently serves on the advisory board of the University of California San Diego's Sulpizio Family Cardiovascular Center.
With his wife, Gaby, Sulpizio owns and operate two businesses: Magali Farms, LLC, a thoroughbred breeding, boarding and training facility; and Magali Wines, LLC, a small boutique winery specializing in Syrah. Both businesses are located in Santa Ynez, CA.
The Director of the Year awards will be presented Tuesday, Sept. 15 from 6 to 9:30 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla.
