Frequently asked questions

A CPAP prescription is required for an AirFit X30i. Cost and coverage vary by insurance provider and plan. After your doctor has provided you with a prescription, we recommend first contacting your insurance provider to learn more about what’s covered under your plan. Then you can find a CPAP equipment store near you.

The home medical equipment supplier – the store where you picked up your CPAP mask and machine – is responsible for providing you with ongoing clinical support, including answering any questions and helping you resolve any mask comfort or fitting issues that you may be experiencing. Getting used to a mask can be challenging and there may be a different mask option that will work better for your personal comfort needs, so don’t hesitate to reach out!

Not sure who your medical equipment supplier is? We can help. Fill out our Contact Us form or call us at 1-800-424-0737.

You should clean the cushion daily. The headgear, frame and elbow only require weekly cleaning. Facial oil and dirt can easily build up on your mask parts when they’re not cleaned properly, which can lead to skin irritation. The good news? Cleaning your mask doesn’t take long, so working it into your morning routine should be a breeze.

HOW TO CLEAN YOUR MASK:
Time it takes: 5 minutes
Supplies you’ll need to clean your mask:

  1. Sink or tub
  2. Warm, drinking-quality water (86°F / 30°C)
  3. Mild or hypoallergenic soap, or baby shampoo
  4. Towel

Step-by-step cleaning tips:

  1. If your mask is connected to a device, disconnect the device air tubing from the mask elbow.
  2. Disassemble your mask:
    1. Unfasten the tabs on the upper headgear straps and pull them away from the frame.
    2. Squeeze the side buttons on the elbow and pull the elbow out of the frame.
    3. Lift and unclip each of the lower headgear tabs out of the cushion.
  3. In the sink, clean your mask parts by gently rubbing (or using a soft-bristle brush) with warm, drinking-quality water and soap. Avoid harsh cleaning products and dish detergents.
  4. Rinse again thoroughly with warm, drinking-quality water.
  5. Place mask components on the towel and allow to air-dry away from direct sunlight.

Refer to the product user guide for complete instructions.

Ozone or UV light products have not been validated for use with the mask. Use of ozone or UV light products may discolor or damage a Resmed mask during the Resmed limited warranty period and void the warranty. Discoloration or damage of ResMed masks are only covered during the limited warranty period if they occur upon initial unpackaging.

For optimal CPAP therapy results, we recommend replacing your mask parts and accessories on a regular basis. For help with when and how to replace your CPAP parts, contact your CPAP equipment store and ask if they have a replacement supply program that you can enroll in to get new parts on a consistent schedule. And download the replacement tip sheet to help keep you on track.

Most CPAP masks have silicone cushions because it’s a hypoallergenic material that’s soft, lightweight and allows for a stable, comfortable seal on your face while you’re sleeping. It’s important that you decide what’s most comfortable for you and your therapy when it comes to your mask cushion. If you experience skin irritation or are uncomfortable with your current mask, contact your CPAP equipment store to let them know.
