Positive Airway Pressure (PAP) and custom MRDs are the most commonly prescribed treatments for OSA. Both are non-invasive and effective at relieving symptoms associated with OSA, including: tiredness, morning headaches and nocturia.
Positive Airway Pressure (PAP)
PAP therapy has become the first line of treatment for OSA, especially for moderate to severe cases. It creates a "pneumatic splint" for the upper airway, preventing the soft tissues of the upper airway from narrowing and collapsing. Read more about PAP therapy.
Narval CC™ MRD
Narval CC™ offers an alternative for patients who refuse or do not tolerate PAP therapy. It is usually prescribed for patients with mild to moderate OSA. Narval CC™ can also be used as a complementary solution, with more and more OSA patients using both treatments. It acts as a mechanical splint by maintaining the lower jaw in a forward position during sleep.
Treating snoring
The Narval CC™ is also recommended as a comfortable anti-snoring device. Custom MRDs such as the Narval CC™ have been validated in numerous clinical studies to be an efficacious and well tolerated treatment for snoring.
How the Narval CC™ works
|
The Narval CC™ retains the mandible - lower jaw - in a forward position which brings forward the base of the tongue and increases the space behind the tongue.
