For sleep apnea and other conditions that require positive airflow pressure therapy, effective treatment means consistent treatment. Many people with these conditions benefit from education because it gives them a greater sense of control and a better understanding of why treatment is so important.

  • It's important to learn all you can about sleep apnea and the proper care of your mask and device after you start treatment. Give your body a chance to recover from the years of sleep deprivation, and then take the time to learn about your condition
  • Contact your doctor or home healthcare provider after you've been on treatment for a week or so and ask for a "refresher" on sleep apnea and on caring for the machine and mask
  • Read everything you can find about sleep apnea
  • Contact the device and mask manufacturers for more information
